Congress has nothing to offer to mass voters which BJP is not giving. Priority for bottom 70% is ration (food for subsistence/survival) which BJP is already giving.
On economic front BJP and congress are same. Everybody knows that with these economic policies no one can improve unemployment or inflation problem.
On social justice and reservations - congress and BJP are same. Congress initiated privatization which BJP is extending. So both are same.
Only large vote base adversely affected by BJP is Muslims but in return BJP gets majority Hindu Vote. Congress tries to become soft-Hindu but that's a failure. As a result even Muslims don't trust Congress anymore.
Liberal journalists, intellectuals who have blossomed due to Congress rule in the past are a miniscule minority.
BJP has money power, extremely efficient digital campaign machine, support of RSS grass root cadre. It's is able to convince voters to swallow bitter pills too due to daily Whatsapp messages.
Atmanirbhar Bharat is nothing but a message to the masses that "You are on your own, you have to survive and don't look towards the state for any kind of support". People (in top 70% - 99% economic strata) have agreed/accepted to this concept.
The truth is in this current regime only top 0.00001% people have benefited who have the connections to take big loans and then get them written off. Rest all are being befooled. Many people (in top 95% - 99% economic strata) who understand this have left India and settled abroad.
BJP knows the fault lines in the society.
There is no such thing as Dalits. They are divided among multiple castes and have their own hierarchy. There is a sanskritized creamy layer in Dalit group which is interested only in maintaining reservations not realizing that ongoing privatization of public employment avenues will make it null and void.
Among OBCs, there is a struggle among dominant castes and lower strata OBC castes. RSS has convinced the dominant castes that the current varna structure is good for maintaining their dominance.
Upper castes are always going to be with BJP because they resent reservations and BJP has convinced them that it will make it redundant.
Muslims/Christians - they don't matter as voters. A large chunk among majority is enough.
Liberals, intellectuals and independent journalists are irritants but not a threat to the throne.
